paradise inked
For this project, I use Persian rugs as both canvas and cultural archive.
Their intricate patterns, often depicting idealized flowering gardens, evoke an ancient vision of paradise.
I translate these knotted motifs onto the faces of imagined muses and influential figures, where ornament becomes a form of inscription, part tattoo, part mask, part identity.
Through this transformation, the work reflects on cultural inheritance in an age of globalization: how symbols migrate, identities are constructed, and traditions acquire new meanings as they move between cultures, histories, and bodies.
